Emma Swan in season 3

In two seasons of Once Upon a Time, Emma Swan has been through quite a transformation. While it wasn’t from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan — she’s always been stunning — seeing her go from reluctant savior to realizing her powers has been fantastic.

It’s been a dramatic and crazy path, and now that we’re headed into Season 3, it’s only going to get more intense. So, what can we expect for Emma this fall? Read on to find out what she’ll be doing — and who it could be with. (Spoiler alert: she still thinks Neal is dead.)

More flashbacks to “bounty hunter” Emma. We saw a glimpse of Emma’s past this season in Season 2, Episode 6: “Tallahassee,” but it’s been awhile since we learned about who she used to be. That will all change next season, though! Co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis recently promised we’ll “dig deeper” into who she was, with “a few more Emma flashbacks” that let us see “what made her tick.”

More Emma in general, too — including savior duties. In addition to learning about her past, the co-creators also said we’ll find out more about who she is now. This includes her diving deeper into magic, figuring out her abilities, and discovering what it means to be the savior.

She may or may not hook up with Hook. These two clearly have chemistry, as Captain Swan fans all know, but will they get together? Hook’s portrayer, Colin O’Donoghue, said that he could end up hooking up with Emma or Regina (he also suggested both), but she could also spend the season mourning Neal. Adam claims she “truly loves” Neal, but may be attracted to Hook, so anything could happen.

She also may team up with Regina. Though The Charmings probably won’t approve, Adam and Eddy revealed that the circumstances may call for Regina training Emma in magic! They did work together in the finale to save Storybrooke and have quite a “connection,” so Swan Queen fans are in for a treat in Season 3. We hope there are many more team-ups after saving Henry in Neverland.
