The Little Mermaid WILL Splish Splash Into Once Upon A Time!

little mermaid gif 2
Well it's about time we got some REAL answers on this!
Once Upon A Time has spun its magic to retell the classic stories of Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Mulan, and Aurora, but we have somehow YET to see classic human-fishy hybrid Ariel!!
What the hell gives, Edward Kitsis? What, does Adam Horowitz not care for seafood much???
WELL! We now have some clarity behind the neglected storyline.
And it's absolutely beautiful!!! The creators reveal:
"We have ideas for Ariel. When we introduce her is up in the air because we're still figuring out what we want to do. There's a possibility we'll see her. She's one of our favorite characters. If and when we do it, we just want to make sure we do it right. The thing that we love to do and that we will continue to do is, we do love to be able to say, here's the backstory of an iconic character, but it's not what you think. So for Beauty and the Beast, we realized the beast was Rumpelstiltskin. And we realized Bae was with the Darlings, and that Red Riding Hood was the wolf. We still want to be able to show you our versions of things, and of course Ariel is at the top of the list."
YESS!!! We knew you both were geniuses!!!
Whatever comes along with their retelling of the Little Mermaid, we're 110% sure it's gonna be brilliant. So basically… don't let us down, lovah boys!! LOLz!!
Hmm.. who should play the red-headed mystical creature??
P.S. To be honest… back when show star Ginnifer Goodwin told us Ariel was who she wanted to see most of all, we knew it wouldn't be that far-fetched for our wish to finally come true. We're just happy the creators are actually discussing it sooner than later.

Once Upon a Time Season 3 Gets 24 Episodes

Once Upon a Time Season 3: What to Watch While You Wait   Good news, Once Upon a Time fans! In the wake of the news that our favorite fairy tale adventure has officially been renewed for a third season comes the update from the ABC upfronts that Season 3 will feature 24 episodes two more than Season 2. Maybe this means we’ll have time to check in with some of our favorite long-lost characters.
We’re doubly excited at this announcement because the longer season will be broken up into two uninterrupted 12-episode runs. This is key for such a serialized drama. OUAT saw its rating slip in Season 2, and we hypothesized that it had something to do with the inconsistent scheduling on ABC’s part. OUAT is still doing relatively well — and hopefully its spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, will throw some more viewers OUAT’s way— but we still worry about our show. We want it to be around for seasons to come!

And, though we were semi-teasing about how the extra episodes might give us more time to check in with minor characters left by the wayside, we do think OUAT could benefit from a few more episodes to flesh out the story. Now that there are three important worlds — Storybrooke, the Enchanted Forest, and Neverland — we’re worried that we are going to get narrative whiplash. Hopefully, the OUAT Powers That Be will use the extra episodes to slow down the show’s pace rather than to engage in further plot meandering.

Are you excited to see two more episodes in OUAT’s Season 3 run? Let us know in the comments below!

'Once Upon a Time' to crossover with 'Wonderland' spin-off

once-upon-a-time-in-wonderland.jpgYou had to figure ABC’s Once Upon a Time and its eagerly anticipated upcoming spinoff Once Upon a Time in Wonderland would cross their creative streams at some point.
But you’re not going to have to wait long for elements of one show to appear into the other.
Get this: The first episode of Wonderland currently starts in Storybrooke. We’re sworn to secrecy on details beyond that. But let’s just say that while the two shows will maintain clear and separate identities (it’s important to ABC and the showrunners that Wonderland can stand-alone with its own easily accessible story) this won’t be the last time the world Once Upon mingles over to Thursdays at 8 p.m.
I’m hedging a little about the exact placement of the Storybrooke scene in the Wonderland pilot because, as Once Upon fans know, a full episode has not yet been shot, so the order of the scenes could change from the presentation screened for ABC executives. In fact, we’re told producers only filmed 19 minutes of footage from the story they mapped out in December for the Wonderland premiere episode. That’s pretty rock star — landing a spot on ABC’s fall schedule without even shooting half an episode! See the Wonderland trailer cut from the presentation here.

'Once Upon a Time' finale: Showrunners Kitsis & Horowitz talk season 2 -- and what's next

GINNIFER-GOODWIN.jpg Far-off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, that guy from Can’t Hardly Wait – Once Upon a Time‘s second season had it all, plus an action-packed finale that sent a sextet of major characters careening into the uncharted waters of Neverland. Want to know more about how the show’s writers planned this epic conclusion — as well as their thoughts on the season as a whole? You’re in luck: EW got the whole story straight from Once‘s co-creators-slash-showrunners, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. [UPDATE: Here's our full recap of the finale.]

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How long have you been planning to incorporate Peter Pan into the show? I remember hearing last year that you had to work out a few rights issues first.
EDWARD KITSIS: Honestly, the whole first year, we wanted to do Neverland, and we never could because of the rights issues — which seemed weird, because Disney had a Peter Pan movie, and they had a show called Jake and the Neverland Pirates. We don’t know how or why, but they figured it out. When we finished season 1, we got the go-ahead before we did what we call “mini-camp” — in between seasons, we take two weeks, three weeks, and just kind of blue sky the season. We learned this on Lost. [Both Kitsis and Horowitz wrote for ABC's mystical drama.] That’s when we came up with our Neverland.

Initially, did you have different plans for how you wanted to use Pan?
KITSIS: We knew we wanted to do Hook first. The first idea we had was that Rumpelstiltskin was the crocodile. We talked about, “Why would these two hate each other? What is the thing that could come between them?” And we both realized, “A woman.”

One of the finale’s biggest surprises is that Rumpelstiltskin seems to have tangled with Pan before.
KITSIS: He absolutely knows who Peter Pan is. In true Mr. Gold/Rumpel style, he knows more than Greg and Tamara.
ADAM HOROWITZ: And there’s certainly the implication that there’s a history there, one we’re eager to unfold.

Neverland is a mysterious island filled with mysterious people who kidnap boys for mysterious reasons. The whole thing seems like a callback to another show you two used to work on.
HOROWITZ: Uh, I don’t know what you’re referring to.
KITSIS: It’s funny — I didn’t think of that.
HOROWITZ: We honestly hadn’t thought of that, really, until you brought it up.
KITSIS: Peter Pan is my favorite. I love the idea that all the Lost Boys were orphans, and that they wanted Wendy to be their mom. In episode 21, Wendy painted this great portrait of what Neverland is, but of course –
– it’s actually kind of bleak and sad.
KITSIS: Things are fun for a day, but you need your family. You need an anchor in your life. And so I think we’re seeing that Neverland is a very seductive place for children. But now that you say that, the subtext…
HOROWITZ: You can take the writers out of Lost.
KITSIS: But you can’t take the Lost out of the writers.
HOROWITZ: But we can promise you, no smoke monster in Neverland.
We’re not going to find Tinker Bell at the bottom of a hatch?
KITSIS: No, but Ben Linus might be there.
He’s kind of like a fairy tale villain.
KITSIS: He is! He’s the man behind the curtain.
HOROWITZ: Don’t forget, Ben Linus started as Henry Gale from Wizard of Oz.
KITSIS: We’re really not bringing in Benjamin Linus, because he has a very successful TV show [CBS's Person of Interest, starring ex-Lostie Michael Emerson]. Before people get excited — it’s a joke!
So now we’ve got the Neverland stuff, we’ve got Bae and Mulan in Fairy Land, we’ve still got Storybrooke — how do you plan to cross between worlds next season? Will episodes still include flashbacks?
HOROWITZ: At the end of season 2, we’ve placed our core group in a very difficult situation. Some of them are on the boat; some of them are behind in Storybrooke; some of them are in another land. So the question is, how do we best continue telling their stories? Sometimes that will require flashbacks; sometimes it won’t. We want to continue to expand the storytelling modality of the show, like we did in season 2, where we were able to do things like flash back to Emma for the first time, or see time during the curse.
KITSIS: We are not going to be doing episodes next season that have five different worlds in them. We definitely plan not to overly confuse or complicate the show. It’s about simplifying

Speaking of simplifying — over the course of season 2, you introduced a ton of new characters. Do you ever worry about the cast getting too unwieldy?
KITSIS: What’s funny is, we added a lot of characters [in] season 2 — but more new characters are introduced [in] season 1, as opposed to the pilot. The characters that got on the boat at the end of the year — we’re really interested in watching this kind of dysfunctional family on this journey together, and I think we’ll meet new people along the way. But our hope is never to have the new people overwhelm it. Season 3, we really want to dive deeper into our core characters, and continually tell their story.
HOROWITZ: We now have the ability to draw out familiar faces from the past when they’re appropriate. Hopefully, the audience is now familiar enough so that it doesn’t feel like you’re adding new characters, but like you’re playing within a large, rich world.
KITSIS: To us, it’s much more fun that Robin Hood steals from Rumpelstiltskin, and that’s who he’s going to kill, as opposed to Knight #3. But what happens then is that people are like, “Hey, it’s a new character!”
So when you drop in somebody like Robin Hood, you don’t necessarily intend him to get a backstory episode. It’s a possibility, but it’s not inevitable.
KITSIS: It is not. Would we like to tell a Robin Hood backstory? Someday, but not at the expense of the other characters.
Between things like Regina killing an entire village and Rumpelstiltskin and Cora’s sexually charged spinning, this season’s been a little darker and sexier than season 1. How difficult is it to keep Once feeling like a family show?
HOROWITZ: These fairy tales always have an element of darkness, and for us, there’s a big distinction between darkness and unpleasantness. And we never want to go there. We’re never going to be a serial killer show. We want to touch on the darkness and the scariness that are inherent in these stories.
KITSIS: This year probably was a little darker. But as Adam said, we’re not trying to alienate our entire audience; what’s fun about this show is that everybody can watch. But season 1, don’t forget, we had Regina rip out the Huntsman’s chest and control him, and she killed her own father.
HOROWITZ: We also try to never lose sight of one of the guiding principles of this show, which is hope.
KITSIS: Even if you look at the end of the year — what’s happened to Henry is a very dark thing. But what he wanted in the beginning of the year was his family to come together — and here they are on a ship, working together to go after him.
HOROWITZ: The irony is, he’s getting [a family] without being there. Emma, Regina, Mr. Gold, Snow, Charming – they’re all united together for a common purpose, which is him.
How do you think Regina and Snow are going to relate to each other, now that they’re working on the same side?
KITSIS: Regina and Rumpelstiltskin are on that ship, and we know what tricks they employ to get what they want. We also know that the Charmings have their own code of honor.
HOROWITZ: Just because you want the same thing, doesn’t mean you agree on the methods. And that’s going to be some of the drama there. Despite the fact that they all want to save Henry, they have a long and difficult history with each other that they need to deal with.
So after Regina’s selfless move in the finale, do you think she’s been redeemed, or at least gotten closer to redemption?
KITSIS: The metaphor we used in the [writers’] room was, she was an alcoholic and magic was her bottle. One of my favorite moments of the year is when she looks at Emma in the finale and says, “Everyone thinks I’m the evil queen. Let me die as Regina.” In that moment, that was her arc of the season. Now that they took Henry, now that she’s on this ship, the game has changed, because the goal is not self-betterment — the goal is to save her son.
And Rumpel is also fighting to save Henry, despite that prophecy saying Henry will be his undoing.
KITSIS: Rumpelstiltskin’s whole life, he’s always chosen power over love. He even did it in the finale — he tried to kill Henry in the opening. And then when he sees that boat coming, he knows what he has to do. He knows this is a one-way trip, but he knows it’s the only way to lighten his heart.
But then again, I’m sure you picked the wording of that prophecy very carefully — because “undoing” doesn’t necessarily mean “death.”
HOROWITZ: “Undoing” — he could be untying his shoes! In all seriousness, it’s kind of what Belle articulates at the end of season 2: The future, it’s never what you think. That doesn’t mean it’s not going to be terrible, but it’s never quite exactly what you think. What that prophecy actually means and how it’s going to play out is something he’s going to find out the hard way.

Once Upon A Time In Wonderland - Synopsis and First Promotional Photo

In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice (Sophie Lowe) tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. An invisible cat, a hookah smoking caterpillar and playing cards that talk are just some of the fantastic things she’s seen during this impossible adventure. Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Alice seems ready to put it all behind her, especially the painful memory of the genie she fell in love with and lost forever — the handsome and mysterious Cyrus (Peter Gadiot). But deep down Alice knows this world is real and just in the nick of time, the sardonic Knave of Hearts (Michael Socha) and the irrepressible White Rabbit (John Lithgow) arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together, the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.

“Once Upon A Time In Wonderland” stars Sophie Lowe (“Beautiful Kate”) as Alice, Michael Socha (“This Is England”) as Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot (“The Forbidden Girl”) as Cyrus, Emma Rigby (“Hollyoaks”) as Queen of Hearts and John Lithgow (“Third Rock From The Sun”) as the voice of the White Rabbit.

“Once Upon A Time In Wonderland” is written and executive produced by Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (“Once Upon A Time”). Also executive produced by Steve Perlman and Zack Estrin, and directed by Ralph Hemecker. “Once Upon A Time In Wonderland” is produced by ABC Studios.

Spoiler Owens Dad WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m in serious need of some Emma/Neal scoop on Once Upon a Time! Do you have anything? –Meredith
This Sunday’s episode very well may be everything you’ve ever wanted (and more), when the exes finally have a heart-to-heart. As Michael Raymond James previews, “Neal still feels some guilt” for bailing on his love 10 years ago, “but he felt he didn’t have a choice in the matter. I mean, we’re talking about her saving a townful of people that he grew up with, people from Fairytale Land. So in Neal’s mind, he jumped on a grenade in the name of the greater good.”

Are we ever gonna see Greg/Owen’s dad again on Once Upon a Time? I can’t say I’d be shocked if being locked up somewhere in Storybrooke post-curse hasn’t aged him a day. –Estee
Kurt Flynn resurfaces this Sunday. And… that’s all I got.

New Girl Cute Vid must see

Once Upon a Time Speculation: Why Do Mulan, Aurora, and Philip Return?

Once Upon a Time Season 2, Episode 8: Mulan and Sleeping Beauty Recently Once Upon A Time co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis confirmed that the  Mulan/Aurora/Philip saga will return in the final two episodes of the second season (via ET Online). But how will the Enchanted Forest trio (one of whom was last seen soulless) make their reappearance? Here are our three best guesses:
A Visit to Storybrooke
Last time we saw Mulan and Aurora, they were on a quest to rescue Philip’s soul from the wraith’s clutches. Who told them this was possible? Cora. Last seen in? Storybrooke. If Mulan and Aurora are at a dead end with their search, they may visit Storybrooke to get more information from Cora (bad news, girls) or other magical authorities like Rumplestiltskin, Regina, or the Blue Fairy. We hope this one happens, considering Belle and Mulan once teamed up to rescue Philip (he needs a lot of rescuing, huh?) from life/death as a Yaoguai. Maybe they can help jog Belle/Lacey’s memory? Rumple obviously needs the help.

Or maybe Storybrooke will need their help? Mulan and Aurora formed a quasi-alliance with Emma and Mary Margaret earlier this season when they were all trouncing through the Enchanted Forest together. With Storybrooke in peril, have Emma and Mary Margaret decided to ask the princesses for help? On a related note, could The Dragon, who Tamara took down with her "taser," be Mulan’s Mushu? That might encourage Mulan’s support in the fight against Tamara, Greg, and “The Home Office.”
Neverland Run-In
Another option is that Mulan, Aurora, and Philip somehow ended up in Neverland, a destination that seems imminent in the OUAT Season 2 finale. We’re not exactly sure how the connections between these magical lands work, but Bae went from the Enchanted Forest to Victorian England to Neverland, so it must be possible. Have Aurora and Mulan somehow ended up in Neverland, too, on their quest for Philip’s soul or a new, safer home?

Enchanted Forest Detour
A third alternative is that some of our Storybrookers head to the Enchanted Forest. This option seems the most likely, since we know this is where Aurora and Mulan are hanging out. Though spoilers seem to suggest that Emma, Neal, and the Charmings will be going to Neverland, that doesn’t mean the other Storybrookers are headed there, too. There are quite a few fairy tale residents who want to head back to their home in the Enchanted Forest. If they do, they could easily run into Mulan, Aurora, and a soul-restored Philip. (Plus, let's not forget the photos of Neal with the trio. Maybe he heads to Fairytale Land for some reason?)

How do you think Aurora, Mulan, and Philip will make their reappearance? Post your theories in the comments section below!

Catch the next episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
